Job Description
We are a participating nonprofit organization in student loan forgiveness. Our agency encourages persons of diverse faiths and backgrounds to apply for employment. This is a Fee for Service Position Summary Will conduct individual and group services in the prison, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections' (MDOC) contract and Catholic Charities agency policy. Will additionally present educational programming as needed, assist in the preparation of reports, and will maintain all related paperwork. This work is confidential and requires a high degree of individual judgment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conduct individual and group services according to the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) contract and Catholic Charities agency policy
- Follow MDOC curriculums and processes that have been approved.
- Make proper diagnosis and help clients develop appropriate treatment plans. Take responsibility for successful outcomes of treatment.
- Routinely and accurately assess risk, provide the appropriate de-escalation and follow the agency policy and procedure for safety and managing crisis.
- Complete and maintain accurate and up-to-date (Real Time or Near Real Time) client files and reports, including, but not limited to: assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, monthly reports, discharge summaries, reports, billing forms and any other written material required by the agency and/or entities contracting with the agency.
- Document in a clear, accurate, concise and professional manner.
- Maintain positive and direct communication with the Program Manager especially regarding case consultation, program development and policy change.
- Provide units of service as required by Full Time Equivalent (FTE) per the Employee Handbook.
- Participate in ongoing professional development though attending outside training, agency in-services and training, as well as by preparing and presenting on topics of mental/behavioral health to agency staff, other professionals and the community at large. Hours of training required are outlined in individual licensure requirements by the state or by program/contract.
- Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in individual and group supervision along with fidelity checks. Attend agency All Staff Meetings whenever possible and as required.
- Present a professional image and maintain professional behavior and boundaries at all times both, in the office, in the prison and when interacting as a representative of the agency within the community.
- Maintain and demonstrate an attitude of respect towards clients, coworkers, supervisors and other agencies and professionals at all times.
- Uphold all ethical and legal standards regarding client confidentiality.
- Adhere to the Diocese of Lansing's Code of Ethics and also code of ethics as directed by licensure.
- Comply with all agency and MDOC policies and procedures.
- Commit to the philosophy of continuous improvement.
- Perform duties in keeping with Catholic social teachings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice or related field, a CADC/CAADC and three years experience in the area of substance abuse treatment OR possession of aCADC/CAADC
with a least three years experience working with the criminal justice population doing substance abuse treatment.Preferred:
Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice or related field, possession of aCADC/CAADC
with two years experience in the area of substance abuse treatment.EEO Job Type:
