Part-Time Intake Specialist (Masters Level Clinician)

About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Intake Specialist to join our clinical team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for individuals seeking services—playing a critical part in assessing eligibility, coordinating care, and ensuring a welcoming and supportive experience. This position is ideal for a clinician who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values person-centered care, and is passionate about supporting individuals with mental health and/or substance use needs. What You'll Do Conduct timely intake assessments (within 72 hours) in settings convenient for the individual (home, hospital, community, etc.) Determine service eligibility in accordance with Michigan Mental Health Code and Medicaid guidelines Provide crisis intervention and support as needed Develop preliminary person-centered treatment plans and crisis plans Educate individuals on services, recipient rights, complaint resolution, and health/safety procedures Initiate case management services and coordinate smooth transitions to ongoing care Participate in triage and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and on time Provide alternative recommendations and due process information when services are denied Maintain compliant, thorough, and timely clinical documentation Participate in on-call rotation, team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training

What We're Looking For Education & Licensure:

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field Active Michigan licensure (MSW, LLP, or LPC)

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year post-graduate clinical experience in mental health and/or developmental disabilities Key Skills & Competencies Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Experience with co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use) Knowledge of diagnostic criteria and level-of-care tools (e.g., LOCUS, ASAM) Proficiency in motivational interviewing and engagement strategies Ability to assess stage of change and tailor interventions accordingly Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfort with electronic health records and basic Microsoft Office tools Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team Additional Requirements Valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record Reliable personal vehicle and proof of insurance for work-related travel Willingness to travel within the community and work flexible hours Why Join Us?
