SUMMARY:
The Native American Community Clinic (NACC) and Red Lake Nation are partners in providing a culturally specific, trauma-informed, harm reduction Intensive Outpatient Program. The Chemical Health Counselor provides substance use disorder counseling services to a manageable caseload of clients, allowing for meaningful engagement and high-quality care. Services are delivered through a holistic approach that addresses substance use, recovery, and overall wellbeing with the support of a highly collaborative, integrated team that includes Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, Community Health Workers, Mental Health Providers, and experienced program leadership. NACC is committed to creating a supportive work environment where counselors receive regular supervision, accessible management support, and opportunities for professional growth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assigned a client caseload responsible for creating treatment plans and weekly one-to-one treatment plan reviews with clients. SUD group facilitation. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of engaging, culturally sensitive services to clients and identified family supports. This includes connection to resources, healthcare, and care coordination. Provides treatment in a manner that reflects knowledge of Native American community values, beliefs, and history, and utilizes treatment interventions and methods that have been deemed appropriate through practice or research with NAs. Demonstrates this knowledge through documentation of interventions and methods in the electronic health record (in a timely manner). Understand and abide by confidentiality rules and regulations. Provides culturally competent treatment through an awareness of one's own personal biases and how they impact interactions with client. Participate in training and ongoing professional development. Interacts with patients, staff and visitors to the IOP Program in a manner that demonstrates respect and understanding of cultural norms.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minnesota LADC or UMICAD Previous experience working with Native Americans or other marginalized communities. Knowledgeable about local resources. Works well independently and on a team. Excellent communication, customer service, and case management skills. General computer proficiency, including MS Office and electronic health records. MN DHS background clearance.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience in a non-for-profit and healthcare. Ability to work in a diverse culture. Experience working within the local Native American community.
