Job Description

The Children and Youth Services Team Leader is responsible for ensuring appropriate, quality service provision to seriously mentally ill children and youths for psychiatric rehabilitation purposes.
DUTIES 1.
Perform staff development by providing orientation and training for C&Y staff and providing case management support. Obtaining input from CSS and clients regarding program activities and provide recommendations to the Children and Youth Services Director regarding policies, procedure and reporting mechanisms. 2. Provide preparation and/or revision of a specific individualized treatment plan per client. 3. Monitor client participation and progress in organized treatment programs to assure the planned provision of services according to each client's individual treatment plan. 4. Provide on-call and stand-by crisis intervention services as a QMHP when arranged, and provides backup to C&Y staff as needed. 5. Monitor records for timely completion of clinical documentation (initial and annual psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, quarterly reviews, progress notes, etc.) 6. Carry a partial caseload, depending on program needs, and taking into account other supervisory duties. 7. Intercede on behalf of individual clients within the community-at-large to assist the client in achieving and maintaining their community adjustment. 8. Maintain contact with clients who are hospitalized, and participate in and facilitate discharge planning. Also includes residential, respite and treatment family home placements. 9. Provide individual assistance in creating a personal support system that includes work with family members, legal guardians, and/or significant others regarding the needs and abilities of clients and their families. 10. Provide formal and informal supervision of C&Y staff by evaluations, and monitoring and signing of expense reports, vacation and sick leave requests, and other personnel-related paperwork on a timely basis. 11. Complete and sign documentation or related paperwork contemporaneously with service provision (within three (3) business days) and in accordance with agency and certification standards. 12. Attend pertinent training scheduled by the Department of Mental Health and the agency, pursuant to training plan developed in conjunction with the Children and Youth Services Director. Adhere to principles and philosophy as set out by the Department of Mental Health and agency standards. 13. Maintain current CPR certification and First Aid certification. 14. Maintain client confidentiality. 15. Perform related duties as requested to carry out the purposes, goals and objectives of the CPRC program and the agency.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Hold a minimum of a Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field; OR Bachelor's degree in a human services field (i.e., education, nursing, criminal justice, recreational therapy, social work, psychology, human development and family studies, counseling, child development, gerontology, rehabilitation counseling, sociology); OR The following must also be matched with 4 years of experience as a case worker or equivalent type job at a CCBHO. An Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support from an approved institution; OR At least two years of higher education with two years of experience in psychiatric, substance use treatment, or developmental disabilities; or any 4-year degree with two years of experience in psychiatric, substance use treatment, or developmental disabilities. Experience is to have included some combination of the following: One-on-one, or group, services with a rehabilitation/habilitation and recovery/resiliency focus; Taught and modeled for individuals how to cope and manage psychiatric, developmental, or substance use issues while encouraging the use of natural resources; Supported efforts to find and maintain employment for individuals and/or to function appropriately in families, school and communities; Assisted individuals with psychiatric, substance use or developmental disabilities to achieve the goals and objectives on their individualized or person-centered plan; OR Four years of equivalent experience with consumers and their families receiving psychiatric, substance use, developmental disabilities services to move towards their personal, social and vocational competency in order to live successfully in the community. Experience to have included some combination of the following: One-on-one, or group, services with a rehabilitation/habilitation and recovery/resiliency focus; Taught and modeled for individuals how to cope and manage psychiatric, developmental, or substance use issues while encouraging the use of natural resources; Supported efforts to find and maintain employment for individuals and/or to function appropriately in families, school and communities; Assisted individuals with psychiatric, substance use or developmental disabilities to achieve the goals and objectives on their individualized or person-centered plan. Possess current knowledge of therapeutic literature and treatment trends for the mentally ill. Demonstrate acceptable documentation skills. Valid driver's license, automobile and required liability insurance.
SUPERVISION
Receives direct supervision on a weekly basis from the Children and Youth Services Director for clinical and administrative support.
