Full-time Summary:
The Housing Mental Health Clinician (LCSW/LCSWA) or
LCMHC/LCMHCA
for Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) provides community-based mental health and supportive services to individuals and families receiving TBRA housing assistance. This role focuses on promoting housing stability and tenancy retention by addressing behavioral health needs that may impact successful independent living. Services are delivered on site, in client homes and in community settings using a Housing First, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach. The clinician practices under required clinical supervision in accordance with the North Carolina Social Work or North Carolina Counseling Certification and Licensure Boards. Occasional weekend work is required to support agency and community partner events, outreach activities, and initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Mental Health & Clinical Services 1. Conduct biopsychosocial, mental health, and housing-related assessments for TBRA participants. 2. Develop and implement individualized, recovery-oriented service plans in collaboration with clients and housing staff. 3. Provide short-term and long-term counseling, supportive therapy, and skills-based interventions within the (LCSW/LCSWA) or
LCMHC/LCMHCA
scope of practice. 4. Deliver crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning as needed to prevent housing disruption. 5. Utilize evidence-informed, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices. Housing Stability & Tenancy Support 1. Collaborate closely with TBRA housing case managers to support lease compliance and housing retention. 2. Address behavioral health symptoms, stressors, and functional impairments that may impact tenancy. 3. Support clients with reasonable accommodation and modification requests related to mental health disabilities. 4. Provide in-home and community-based follow-up services to promote long-term housing stability. 5. Other duties may be assigned. 6. Must have a transportation with valid registration and a valid drivers license Care Coordination & Collaboration 1. Coordinate referrals and linkages to community resources including psychiatry, medical care, substance use treatment, benefits, and supportive services. 2. Participate in case conferencing, interdisciplinary team meetings, and coordinated care planning. 3. Maintain professional working relationships with housing providers, landlords, and community partners, as appropriate. Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited program.
  • Active North Carolina Licensed (LCSW/LCSWA) or
LCMHC/LCMHCA
in good standing.
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions and their impact on housing stability.
  • Ability to work independently in community-based and in-home settings.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license and reliable transportation Experiences preferred in the following area: o Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
o Familiarity with TBRA, HOPWA, or other HUD-funded housing programs. o Experience with HMIS, EHRs, or care coordination systems. o Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Pay:
$29.68 - $35.74 per hour
