In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive support and therapeutic services to children with developmental disabilities and their families, ensuring they receive the highest quality care in a compassionate environment. Your expertise will help empower families, promote positive behavioral outcomes, and foster community integration. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their loved ones while working within a collaborative, innovative setting. Responsibilities Conduct thorough assessments of children's developmental, behavioral, and mental health needs using diagnostic evaluation tools and patient assessment techniques. Develop individualized care plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and behavioral therapy tailored to each child's unique needs. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focused on child & family counseling, social work principles, and mental health counseling to promote emotional well-being. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage children and families actively in treatment processes, fostering motivation for change. Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention strategies, conflict management, and crisis management protocols to ensure safety and stability. Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records following HIPAA guidelines, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with medical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including special education professionals, case managers, and community care providers to coordinate comprehensive services for children with disabilities or autism. Collect data systematically for ongoing case management, treatment planning, and program evaluation purposes. Provide home & community care support by conducting home visits when necessary to reinforce therapeutic strategies in natural environments. Engage in ongoing professional development related to medical terminology, behavioral health advancements, PTSD care, art therapy techniques, and working with individuals with disabilities. Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as required by state law. Proven experience working with children who have developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and HIPAA regulations governing patient privacy. Demonstrated expertise in behavioral management strategies including applied behavior analysis (ABA) and crisis management techniques. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage children and families effectively using motivational interviewing and child & family counseling approaches. Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while maintaining a positive attitude during conflict management or crisis intervention scenarios. Experience working in behavioral health settings or providing home & community care is highly desirable. Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices such as PTSD care is a plus.
