Position Summary:
The Family and Parenting Peer Specialist provides peer support, recovery support, and parenting support services to women and families participating in St. Monica's programs. This role uses lived experience to support participant engagement, strengthen recovery connections, assist with transition planning, and promote participant success throughout treatment and community reintegration.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide peer support services to participants throughout treatment & transition into the community. Support participant engagement, orientation, and relationship-building within programs. Assist participants in developing recovery supports, community connections, & family support systems. Support parenting education, family engagement, and participant-centered recovery planning. Facilitate peer support activities, groups, and recovery-oriented programming as assigned. Support culturally responsive services and assist participants in accessing culturally relevant resources andsupports. Work closely with Children's Case Management Coordinator to meet participant needs Collaborate with clinical, peer support, case management, and program staff to support participant care and continuity of services. Assist participants with accessing community resources. Support participant transitions between levels of care. Assist with participant follow-up, engagement, and retention efforts as assigned. Participate in alumni, recovery support, and community engagement activities. Meet Job Expectations for Family and Parenting Peer Support Specialist. Core Competencies (All Positions):

Engages participants through supportive peer and recovery-oriented activities.
Relationship Building:
Develops supportive, respectful, & recovery-focused relationships with participants.

Coordinates effectively with internal & external supports & providers.
Education and Experience:
Lived experience in a personal wellness and recovery journey for at least one year. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) State Certification required or ability to obtain with six months of hire. Experience working with individuals and families affected by substance use and mental health concerns preferred. Experience in peer support, parenting support, or recovery-oriented services preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age. First Aid/CPR certified or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required upon hire.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may include lifting up to 25 lbs., climbing stairs, and working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
