Job Description

Position Overview The Group Facilitator provides structured, evidence-based group services within an inpatient substance use disorder treatment program. This role is responsible for facilitating psychoeducational, relapse-prevention, life-skills, and recovery-support groups while helping clients build coping skills, emotional awareness, and recovery stability in a safe, supportive environment. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, recovery-oriented, and experienced in group facilitation within behavioral health or substance use treatment settings. Primary Responsibilities
  • Facilitate psychoeducational, relapse-prevention, life-skills, and recovery-support groups in accordance with the program curriculum.
  • Conduct therapeutic/process groups within scope of practice and credentialing requirements.
  • Encourage positive participation, peer accountability, and recovery-focused engagement among clients.
  • Observe, document, and communicate client participation, progress, and behavioral concerns in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, and case-management teams to support continuity of care and treatment planning.
  • Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and identification of relapse or behavioral risks.
  • Support discharge planning and aftercare coordination as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with
HIPAA, 42 CFR
Part 2, agency policies, and professional ethical standards.
  • Attend required trainings, supervision sessions, and staff meetings. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma/GED acceptable with active CADC credential.
  • CADC, LCADC, LAC, LSW, LPC, or LCSW preferred.
  • CADC-Interns welcome with appropriate supervision.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience facilitating groups in substance use, behavioral health, or related treatment settings required.
  • Inpatient or residential treatment experience preferred.
  • Candidates in recovery must have a minimum of two (2) years of continuous sobriety. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of substance use treatment and recovery principles.
  • Ability to effectively manage group dynamics and maintain structure.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHRs) and standard computer systems. Working Conditions
  • Full-time, in-person position.
  • Flexibility for evenings or weekends may be required based on program needs.
  • Clinical environment with exposure to high-stress situations.
  • Occasional travel may be required for client support or community-related services.
