Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate High School Counselor to inspire and support students on their academic, personal, social, and emotional journeys. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive counseling services that empower students to achieve their full potential, navigate challenges, and prepare for future success. Your expertise will foster a positive school environment where every student feels valued, understood, and motivated to thrive academically and personally. Responsibilities Offer individual and group counseling sessions focused on academic advising, behavioral health, mental health counseling, and social-emotional development. Develop tailored intervention plans for students facing behavioral or emotional challenges, including conflict management and behavioral management strategies. Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, child protective services, and community agencies to support student welfare and ensure a safe learning environment. Administer and interpret standardized testing results to assist in academic planning and special education placement. Provide guidance on childhood development topics and cultural diversity counseling to promote inclusive support for all students. Assist students with career exploration, college applications, scholarship opportunities, and other post-secondary planning activities. Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, interventions, and student progress while adhering to confidentiality standards. Skills Strong communication skills to effectively connect with students from diverse backgrounds and collaborate with staff and families. Expertise in special education needs, behavioral health issues, mental health counseling, and childhood development principles. Proficiency in conflict management techniques and behavior management strategies to de-escalate crises and promote positive behavior. Experience in individual and group counseling settings within educational environments. Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and child welfare protocols including child protective services. Familiarity with Christian counseling approaches (if applicable), childcare practices, classroom experience, social work principles, and cultural diversity counseling. Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism while demonstrating empathy and active listening skills. Pay:
