Bereavement Counselor

Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc. is seeking a part-time Bereavement Counselor to join our Social Work & Bereavement team. This is a part-time position scheduled for 12 hours per week , Mondays and Thursdays, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm . About the Role The Bereavement Counselor plays a vital role in delivering our hospice philosophy of comfort, dignity, and compassionate care. This position provides high-quality emotional and clinical support to individuals, families, and groups navigating loss through grief counseling. The Bereavement Counselor will work collaboratively with the Social Work & Bereavement team under the direction of the Lead Bereavement Counselor and the Director of Social Work & Bereavement Services.

Education and Experience:

Master's Degree in Social Work (LMSW), Mental Health Counseling or a related field. Experience working in a clinical grief counseling setting counseling individuals, families and groups going through loss. What are we looking for? Refined clinical counseling skills. Knowledge and understanding of the grief response. Computer literacy and proficiency with electronic communication systems such as Microsoft Teams & Zoom. Proficiency in Microsoft suite, specifically Excel, Word & PowerPoint. Excellent presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, and organization skills. Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy. Ability to work with autonomy, as well as a team member.
