Continuing Education Opportunities Substance Use Group Therapy Counselor Position Summary:
The Substance Use Group Counselor to facilitate group therapy sessions for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The counselor will provide education, support, and guidance to help clients develop coping strategies and work toward recovery. This role involves working closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote a supportive and structured treatment environment.Substance Use Group Therapy Counselor Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, and mental health.
- Monitors client interaction and behaviors. Provides a role model for the program participants.
- Writes group and individual progress notes to document their interactions and services completed.
- Responsible for contributing to the upkeep and cleanliness of the residence.
- Completes all required documentation, in timelines in accordance with program standards.
- Provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for clients to share and grow.
- Educate clients about substance use disorders, mental health, and healthy coping mechanisms.
- Monitor clients' progress, behavior, and engagement in group therapy.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client progress and participation.
- Recognize and respond to crisis situations appropriately, including referrals for higher levels of care if necessary.
- Stay updated on best practices in substance abuse treatment and incorporate new methods into counseling sessions.
