Exempt Position Summary:
The Director
of Counseling and Wellness Services is a central member of the Student Experience team with primary strategic direction for the areas of
providing individual counseling and crisis intervention for students experiencing serious psychological distress. The position also has
budget oversight and departmental supervision. The Director of Counseling and Wellness Services will establish collaborative
relationships with the campus community and provide training and consultation on the prevention and identification of mental health problems
which may jeopardize students' academic success or compromise the safety and well-being of the campus community. The close-working
relationship between and among Culver-Stockton College students, Student Experience staff, faculty, and administrators promotes a work
environment in which students are mentored, challenged, and offered a broad spectrum of experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for administrative and clinical responsibility for the Counseling and Wellness Center, including managing the
operating budget.
Establish and maintain the policies and procedures for the delivery of mental health and wellness services.
Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention for students experiencing serious psychological distress.
Establish
collaborative relationships with the campus community and provide training and consultation on the prevention and identification of mental
health problems which may jeopardize students' academic success or compromise the safety and well-being of the campus community.
Collaborate with students' families, college faculty and staff, and other providers or relevant parties as appropriate, in cases involving
seriously distressed students.
Participate in college-wide committees to help support and improve the student experience and
retention.
Provide referral and consultation services for mental and physical health/wellness needs.
Develop and
implement outreach programs with an emphasis on topics related to emotional, mental, and physical health and wellness.
Provide
regular campus-wide training and workshops as needed, with an emphasis on educating faculty, staff, and students on making appropriate
referrals to the Counseling and Wellness Center.
Supervise peer counselors and counseling interns.
Complete all annual
programming requirements and collaborate with other staff members on programs.
30% of the roles time should be focused on program
development and execution.
Develop and maintain emergency protocol manuals.
Gather data that identifies the problems and
risk factors common amongst Culver-Stockton College students, and plan prevention screenings, and intervention programs to address those
problems.
Manage all programs and educational opportunities related to prevention and intervention.
Work closely with
the Residential Life and Student Experience staff to identify and intervene with students in need.
Serve in an on-call rotation to
respond as needed to nighttime or weekend emergencies.
In partnership with the Administrative Assistant, Coordinate and oversee
the online form of student health history and immunization record information within HIPAA guidelines.
Maintain current clinical
notes, monthly statistics, and any other necessary clinical forms for reporting purposes.
Prepare reports as requested by the Vice
President for Student Experience or President of the College.
Participate in programming and events such as new student
recruitment open houses, Hilltop Days, new student orientation, residential life staff training, ACE events, etc.
Maintain
affiliations with professional organizations related to college student mental health and wellness.
Attends and participates in
continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the profession.
Work with appropriate staff members to
ensure all billing is processed in a timey and accurate manner.
Qualifications:
A master's degree in counseling,
clinical psychology, or social work.
Must have a current counseling license for the state of Missouri
3 years of
experience in professional counseling.
Collaborative working ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with members of
the college community.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Technology skills including, but not limited to,
word processing and spreadsheets, knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Internet
