Job Description

Position Overview The Group Facilitator is responsible for leading therapeutic and educational group sessions for men in a residential dual-diagnosis addiction recovery setting. This role as a group facilitator requires strong clinical awareness, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage clients in evidence-based and holistic group work that fosters recovery, self-awareness, and long-term wellness. Key Responsibilities Facilitate therapeutic group sessions on topics such as relapse prevention, communication, trauma-informed care, coping skills, mindfulness, self-advocacy, and healthy relationships. Integrate dual-diagnosis awareness, addressing the intersection of mental health disorders and substance use in group settings. Utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as: Motivational Interviewing (MI) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)-informed skills Trauma-informed psychoeducation Experiential approaches (exercise, nature-based, adventure therapy, mindfulness, exposure therapy, etc..) Create a safe, structured, and inclusive group environment that encourages vulnerability, accountability, and peer support. Collaborate with the clinical team to reinforce treatment goals, provide feedback on client progress, and adjust group content based on client needs. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of group notes, attendance, and clinical observations. Support the overall program by participating in staff meetings, training, and multidisciplinary care coordination. Required Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated experience working with individuals in addiction recovery and dual diagnosis populations. Knowledge of evidence-based practices and ability to integrate multiple therapeutic modalities into group facilitation. Strong group management, engagement, and redirection skills. Ability to maintain therapeutic boundaries while fostering rapport and trust. Excellent communication, active listening, and conflict resolution skills. Competence in documenting clinical work and collaborating in a team-based setting. Education & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field preferred. Minimum of 1 years experience in group facilitation in addiction recovery or mental health settings. State licensure or certification (LPC, LPCC, LSW, LISW, LCDC, CDCA, or equivalent) preferred or working toward credentialing. Training in trauma-informed care and/or co-occurring disorder treatment strongly desired. Additional Qualities Flexibility and creativity in tailoring group content to client needs. Dedication to fostering a therapeutic community that balances accountability, compassion, and growth.
