Role:
The Counselor plays a vital role in supporting individuals through various personal, emotional, and psychological challenges by providing professional guidance and therapeutic interventions. This position focuses on fostering a safe and confidential environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives. The Counselor collaborates with clients to develop personalized strategies that promote mental health, resilience, and overall well-being. Through active listening, assessment, and evidence-based counseling techniques, the Counselor helps clients navigate complex life situations and achieve their personal goals. Ultimately, the role aims to enhance clients' quality of life by facilitating growth, healing, and self-awareness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution. LPC, LSW, LPCC, or LISW Valid state licensure or certification as a professional counselor or equivalent credential in the United States. Demonstrated experience in providing counseling services in a clinical or community setting. Strong understanding of ethical guidelines and confidentiality requirements in counseling. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with diverse populations, including different age groups and cultural backgrounds. Training or certification in specialized counseling approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, or Substance Abuse Counseling. Bilingual abilities or proficiency in a second language relevant to the community served. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms. Additional certifications in crisis intervention or mental health first aid.
Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address clients' mental health and emotional needs. Assess clients' psychological and social functioning to develop tailored treatment plans. Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards. Provide crisis intervention and support during emergency situations as needed. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, social workers, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care. Stay current with best practices and continuing education to enhance counseling techniques and knowledge. Educate clients and their families about coping strategies, mental health issues, and available resources.
