Job Description
Overview Join our educational team as a Mental Health Therapist, providing compassionate, trauma-informed mental health services to students at Marshall High School. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, support students' emotional well-being, and collaborate closely with school staff, families, and community partners to help create a safe, supportive, and growth-oriented environment. This position is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about working with adolescents facing significant emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. Many of our students have experienced trauma, instability, family conflict, academic struggles, and other barriers that impact their success both inside and outside the classroom. As a result, we are seeking a therapist who is resilient, patient, emotionally grounded, and able to maintain therapeutic boundaries while building meaningful relationships with youth. The ideal candidate understands that progress may not always be immediate and is comfortable working through resistance, crisis situations, emotional dysregulation, and challenging behaviors with empathy, consistency, and professionalism. A strong sense of adaptability, confidence, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping students develop coping skills, increase emotional regulation, build resilience, improve relationships, and achieve their personal and academic goals. If you are committed to supporting youth through some of their most difficult moments and believe in their capacity for growth and change, we encourage you to apply. Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify student needs and develop individualized treatment plans. Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care. Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention and crisis management techniques, ensuring student safety at all times. Collaborate with educators, school administrators, social workers, and parents to coordinate case management and implement behavioral health strategies within the school setting. Maintain accurate medical documentation, records, and reports in compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information. Support students' social-emotional development by implementing conflict management and behavior management strategies aligned with individual needs. Requirements Valid licensure as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LSW (Licensed Social Worker), LISW-S (Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor), or equivalent credential. Proven experience working with children in educational or clinical settings, including school experience preferred. Strong knowledge of mental health counseling techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapeutic modalities, and applied behavior analysis. Familiarity with crisis intervention protocols, addiction counseling, trauma-informed care, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges. Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining detailed medical records and documentation in accordance with HIPAA standards. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging effectively with students and families. Knowledge of medical terminology related to mental health diagnoses and treatment planning is highly desirable. Expertise directly impacts the lives of students by fostering resilience and emotional well-being in a supportive educational environment!
