The Counselor role is a vital, frontline clinical position within our withdrawal management and crisis stabilization environment, providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges.

As a Counselor, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, delivering person-centered, trauma-informed services that promote stabilization, recovery, and successful transitions to ongoing care. This role directly supports lifesaving interventions and strengthens the communitys access to high-quality behavioral health treatment. What You BringBachelors degree in social work, counseling, psychology, addiction studies or a related human services field
Highly Preferred:
Masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology, addiction studies with active or eligible clinical licensure
Preferred Certifications:
CAAC, CADC, CAADC, CCSOne year of clinical experience in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting
Highly Preferred:
Direct experience in substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, or behavioral health settingsFamiliarity with ASAM criteria and withdrawal managementAbility to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without accommodation Your RoleProvide individual, group, and family counseling services using evidence-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered approachesComplete screenings, intakes, and comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations, suicide risk assessments, and ASAM level-of-care determinationsDevelop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans aligned with client needs, medical necessity, and regulatory standardsSupport clients in withdrawal management, crisis stabilization, and early recoveryDeliver crisis intervention and de-escalation services to individuals experiencing acute emotional or behavioral distressUtilize Motivational Interviewing and Motivational Enhancement Therapy strategies to explore ambivalence, strengthen readiness for change, increase treatment participation, and support client-centered recovery goals. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record, PA WITS, REDCap, and other required systemsCoordinate care with internal teams, hospitals, crisis services, and community providers to ensure continuity of care and safe transitionsProvide case management services in accordance with DDAP and OMHSAS standards, including linkage to medical, recovery, behavioral health, and social servicesFacilitate discharge and aftercare planning, including follow-up appointments and community referralsParticipate in team meetings, supervision, training, and quality improvement activitiesObtain and maintain DDAP-recognized clinical credentials, or actively participate in an approved supervision and training plan to achieve certification within required timeframesAbout Lenape Valley FoundationSince 1958, Lenape Valley Foundation (LVF) has been a trusted non-profit provider of essential human services in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.
