Job Description

Come Join Our Team! The Practicum Graduate Intern will engage in advanced experiential learning within a residential recovery setting, applying theoretical knowledge to practice under professional supervision. This role emphasizes the integration of recovery-oriented principles, cultural competence, and trauma-informed care into case management and supportive counseling. The intern will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote resident autonomy, skill development, and community integration while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

A supportive work environmentWhat You BringCurrent enrollment in a masters program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related human services discipline Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skillsAbility to learn how to document in an electronic health recordCommitment to ethical practice, cultural competence, and trauma informed care.

Foundational knowledge of recovery principles and a willingness to apply advanced theoretical frameworksAbility to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and exercise independent judgement under supervision.

Availability to work at least 16 hours per week and commit to at least 2 semesters.

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the internship, with or without accommodation.

What You Will Do/Core ResponsibilitiesApply Recovery-Oriented and Trauma-Informed Practices Implement evidence-based recovery principles and trauma-informed approaches in daily interactions, fostering empowerment and resilience among residents.

Demonstrate Cultural Competence Provide services that respect and respond to residents cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds, ensuring inclusivity and equity in care.

Professional Conduct and Ethical Practice Uphold professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions with residents, families, and multidisciplinary team members.

Resident Skill Development Facilitate the acquisition of activities of daily living (ADLs), problem-solving, financial literacy, and independent living skills through structured interventions.

Individualized Service Planning Contribute to the development and review of Resident Rehabilitation Recovery Service Plans; actively participate in treatment team meetings with cultural and trauma-informed considerations.

Clinical Engagement Provide supportive counseling and psychoeducational interventions in individual and group formats, addressing personal, interpersonal, and functional goals through a trauma-sensitive lens.

Service Coordination Assist in identifying resident needs and coordinating access to medical, psychiatric, and culturally appropriate community-based resources.

Crisis Intervention and Safety Management Maintain vigilance in monitoring resident well-being; assist staff with responding promptly and effectively to crises and emergencies using trauma-informed strategies.

Documentation and Compliance Prepare accurate, timely clinical documentation and maintain resident records consistent with regulatory and program standards.

Community Integration Support residents in planning and participating in social and recreational activities that enhance community engagement and cultural inclusion.

Professional Development Attend supervision, staff meetings, and training sessions.
