Job Description

Overview The Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining the College's philosophy on student mental health in alignment with institutional strategic plans. This role provides direct supervision to Counseling Services and is responsible for ensuring the continuity of quality mental health service delivery. Additionally, the Director works closely with other Enrollment & Student Success leaders to provide integrated care and wellness initiatives across the spectrum of student needs. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related discipline. Required Earned Doctorate (PhD., PsyD.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related. Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Licensed Counselor. Required Certification in alcohol and drug treatment counseling. Preferred
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years experience in counseling or student personnel services at the college level. Required Substantial experience with supervision and budgeting. Required Work experience focused on campus or community health promotion/education/prevention. Required Experience with flexible or stepped care delivery models. Preferred
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Strong interpersonal communication skills and proven leadership and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse college community; record of exemplary professional integrity. Required Excellent oral and written communications skills to include public speaking skills. Required Responsibilities Hire, supervise, and develop the Counseling Services team (Counselors, Lead Counselor, Office Assistant). Work collaboratively with the Lead Counselor in the implementation and maintenance of a peer support/consultation structure. Provide oversight of day-to-day operations of the Counseling Services Office and ensure quality service is provided. Manage complex and crisis situations through effective and appropriate communication and coordination of resources. Oversee urgent and crisis situations that require counseling support or intervention as they occur. Implement collaboratively developed wellness initiatives. Ensure appropriate use and maintenance of the electronic health record system. Direct and oversee outcomes assessment for direct service and programming activities. Serve as a liaison to other departments and agencies on behalf of Counseling Services, in coordination with the Lead Counselor. Connect the efforts of Counseling Services with other related departments and initiatives and ensure alignment with the College's strategic framework. Direct and oversee outcomes assessment for all student support activities, including assessment of special populations. Develop and recommend specific goals and programming for counseling to include strategies for reaching a greater portion of students while reducing duplicate efforts. Develop and maintain campus and community relationships that strengthen the College's ability to effectively support student wellbeing. Develop and administer the budget for Counseling Services. Lead training and programming initiatives focused on mental health and wellness. Participate in various campuswide events and committees.
