  • Contract Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Addiction Counselor with certification credentials such as MAC, CACII, CADC, CCADC, or
GCADCIII
to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction and mental health counseling services to individuals and families, fostering recovery and resilience. Your expertise will help clients navigate complex challenges related to substance use, mental health disorders, and co-occurring conditions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through evidence-based practices, including psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapies. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care in diverse settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and community-based programs. Responsibilities Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing
ICD-9, ICD-10
coding systems to determine client needs and treatment planning. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), group therapy, and applied behavior analysis. Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, trauma resolution (including PTSD care), child & family counseling, and crisis intervention. Implement motivational interviewing techniques to enhance client engagement and promote positive behavioral change. Manage case documentation with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by maintaining accurate medical records, progress notes, intake forms, and treatment summaries using appropriate medical terminology. Facilitate crisis management interventions during acute episodes or emergencies in home or community care settings. Collaborate with healthcare providers for comprehensive patient care coordination and case management efforts. Collect data for research purposes or quality improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with CPT coding standards for billing purposes. Qualifications Certification as MAC (Master Addiction Counselor), CACII (Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor II), CADC (Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor), CCADC (Certified Chemical Addiction Counselor), or
GCADCIII
(Graduate Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor III). Proven experience in addiction counseling within hospital settings or community-based programs; home & community care experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of behavioral health practices including psychotherapy, crisis intervention, social work principles, and behavioral therapy techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and applied behavior analysis. Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), medical documentation standards, and HIPAA compliance requirements. Excellent patient assessment skills coupled with the ability to manage complex cases involving mental health disorders like PTSD or co-occurring conditions. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations requiring crisis management and behavior management strategies.
