Provider Specialty Obesity Medicine Overview:
Sentara Medical Group is seeking an NP or PA with Obesity Medicine/ Internal Medicine or Family Practice/Endocrinology setting experience to join the Comprehensive Weight Loss Solutions
Position Highlights:
- Monday
- Friday 8am-4:30pm
- No Call
- Hybrid model
- a mix of in person patient care and telehealth Provide evidence based care for patients seeking weight loss options with medication management using FDA approved anti-obesity medications, and ability to identify OTC medications/supplements/vitamins that may influence weight identify barriers to medication adherence and use behavior change counseling techniques when formulating treatment plan with patient through motivational interviewing Assign meal plan along with diet/nutrition counseling Educate patients on benefits of intensive, comprehensive treatment and lifestyle modifications while incorporating cultural considerations into treatment plans Problem-solve with patients to address barriers to treatment and refer to services to address social barriers (SNAP, WIC, Behavioral Therapy, PT/OT/Speech and other medical specialties as needed.
) Maintain professional credentials, participate in continuing education in obesity medicine, Evaluate new and emerging scientific evidence in obesity in partnership with collaborating Physician and peers
- 1-2 years of experience highly preferred
