Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking several dedicated Certified Peer Specialists to join our team. The Certified Peer Specialists will provide support and guidance to individuals facing mental health and/or substance use challenges by sharing their own lived experiences and offering encouragement and resources. Must have certification and registration with Virginia Board of Counseling. Duties
  • Utilize education and peer support techniques to assist individuals in managing mental health and/or substance use challenges
  • Mentor individuals by sharing personal experiences and providing emotional support
  • Conduct mental health and/or substance use peer sessions focusing on recovery-oriented practices
  • Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to inspire positive behavioral changes
  • Assist in navigating social services and community resources
  • Provide peer support during challenging situations
  • Offer addiction education and support services as needed Requirements
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist with the VA Board of Counseling
  • Proficiency in peer support strategies
  • Strong background in systems navigation within the mental health/addiction fields
  • Experience in mentoring individuals facing mental health challenges
  • Knowledge of behavioral health practices and interventions
  • Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
