We are a non-profit organization comprised of people with mental illness, family members and professionals. JOB SUMMARY A
Mental Health Certified Peer Support Specialist is a person who has personally experienced a mental health condition, taken an active role in regaining mental health and wellness, and is willing to share those experiences to inspire, educate, and guide others with similar experiences and conditions. Peer Support Specialists perform a wide range of tasks to support individuals in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process. This position will work primarily in the community and at the Southeast Regional Crisis Center (SERCC), providing peer support services in a variety of settings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Peer Support Assist individuals to develop recovery and wellness goals and identify their strengths, abilities and assets to achieve those goals Develop positive relationships with community partners, groups, and agencies Advocate for individuals living with mental illness Encourage the use of local resources; connect individuals to these resources Educate individuals about the recovery journey as well as mental health and wellness Role model appropriate boundaries and interpersonal communications Demonstrate stigma-busting methods and ways of thinking Model wellness, personal responsibility, self-advocacy, recovery and hope Provide coverage at the Southeast Regional Crisis Center (SERCC) as needed Assist in the mentoring of Volunteer Peer Supporters Support Groups Co-Facilitate Connection Recovery Support Groups as needed Miscellaneous Assist

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
Lived experience with mental illness Is a Certified Peer Support Specialist in the state of Minnesota, or is able to complete a Minnesota DHS approved Certified Peer Support Specialist training and pass a certification exam Must maintain certification as required by the state of Minnesota Has a high school diploma or equivalent Must pass a background check Strong leadership, advocacy, and role model skills Knowledge of community resources Experience working with individuals affected by mental illness Is willing to complete the necessary training to become a WRAP Facilitator
HOURS & BENEFITS
This is a part-time (12 hours per week), non-exempt position. Hours are flexible and a work schedule can be negotiated with the Director of Support Programs. Some weekend and evening obligations will occur with notice. This position is eligible for paid time off. SALARY $18-$20/hour depending on experience TRAVEL Travel may be required occasionally for training, events, and meetings.
