In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to individuals across diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Your expertise will help clients navigate mental health challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve personal growth. Duties Conduct thorough intake assessments to evaluate clients' mental health needs using diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute mental health emergencies effectively while ensuring client safety and well-being. Provide specialized support for clients with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD, addiction issues, grief, chronic pain, or gender-related concerns through tailored therapeutic approaches. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations; document progress notes, treatment plans, and clinical observations using appropriate medical terminology. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Engage in clinical research activities or data collection efforts to improve service delivery and contribute to the advancement of behavioral health practices. Utilize telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions when applicable while adhering to best practices for virtual patient care. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field; licensure or certification as required by state law. Proven experience in clinical counseling settings such as outpatient clinics or inpatient facilities; hospital experience preferred. Strong knowledge of mental health disorders including PTSD, autism spectrum disorder, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities. Expertise in therapeutic modalities such as psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology support coordination, and crisis management. Familiarity with
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding systems for diagnostic evaluation and billing purposes. Experience working with children and families; understanding of special education needs is a plus. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations across age groups. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries; adept at crisis intervention and behavior management techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health; experience documenting in electronic medical records systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Telehealth experience is highly desirable; ability to adapt counseling methods for virtual environments effectively.
