Job Description

Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) & (LCPC) Behavioral Health Pathways Owings Mills, MD Job Details Contract From $45 an hour 7 days ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Bilingual Electronic health records (EHR) management Master's degree Working with children Working with individuals with trauma-related disorders Clinical documentation Social Work Working with individuals with anxiety disorders Full Job Description Job Summary This Isn't a Job. It's a Clinical Home. If you are a licensed counselor who is done chasing a traditional 9-to-5 and ready to build something on your terms, this is your next move. Behavioral Health Connections (BHC), the clinical services arm of BHP Collective, is looking for a clinician who wants more than a caseload. We are building a collective of therapists who are sharp, culturally grounded, entrepreneurially minded, and deeply committed to doing this work with excellence and heart. We are not the right fit for everyone, and that is intentional. This role is designed for clinicians who are ready to embrace the independence and flexibility of contract work, and we understand that making that leap comes with real questions. We are committed to supporting our contractors not just clinically, but practically. That means we have straightforward conversations about what 1099 work looks like financially, including guidance on navigating individual health insurance through the marketplace and understanding your tax responsibilities as an independent contractor. We want you to walk into this arrangement informed, confident, and set up for success. If you are someone who thrives with autonomy, wants to build a caseload that reflects your clinical passions, and is looking for a community to grow within rather than a traditional employment structure, this role was built for you. Who We Are Looking For You might be a second-career professional who came to counseling on purpose, with life experience, professional wisdom, and a perspective that makes you a better clinician. Or you might be an emerging clinician who already knows they want to build toward private practice, consulting, or a specialty niche, and you want to do it inside a real support structure rather than alone. Either way, you show up with: Clinical curiosity and discipline. You think critically about your cases, you document with integrity, and you do not cut corners. An entrepreneurial spirit. You understand that building a caseload takes intentionality, and you are excited by that challenge rather than intimidated by it. A deep commitment to equity. Your clinical values are not performative. They are embedded in how you conceptualize, assess, and treat. A desire for community. You want colleagues, not just coworkers. You want to grow in a space that invests in your development. The Role As a Mental Health Counselor at BHC, you will carry an outpatient caseload serving individuals, couples, families, and groups across the lifespan. You will work within a multidisciplinary ecosystem that includes psychologists, psychiatric providers, interns, and clinical leadership, and you will have room to develop the specialty areas that excite you most.
Core clinical responsibilities include:
Providing individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy in outpatient and telehealth settings; conducting biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic clarification, and treatment planning; supporting clients navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD-related concerns, life transitions, grief, relational stress, family systems challenges, self-esteem, and high-performance pressure; maintaining timely, audit-ready, HIPAA-compliant documentation in SimplePractice; collaborating with the interdisciplinary team through case consultation and clinical meetings; coordinating referrals, crisis support, and wraparound resources as clinically indicated; and delivering affirming, identity-conscious care to BIPOC clients, LGBTQIA+ folx, children, families, veterans, athletes, and high-achieving professionals. Compensation and Incentives This is a 1099 independent contractor position designed for clinicians who want flexibility, autonomy, and the ability to build something that is genuinely theirs.
Base rate:
$42/hr We also offer incentive pay for: Specialized certifications (EMDR, CBT-I, DBT, EFT, CPP, and others) Bilingual service delivery. Incentive pay is available for clinicians serving clients in a language other than English. Specialty population work, including children, adolescents, and other high-need or underserved groups. The more you bring to the table, the more you earn here. What Makes BHC Different BHC is embedded within BHP Collective, a psychology-centered ecosystem that spans clinical services, clinician training, supervision, community education, and JEDI-aligned consulting. That means you are not walking into an isolated private practice. You are walking into a collective. Here, you will have access to: Interdisciplinary consultation and a training-forward culture that takes your professional development seriously A community of practitioners who are growing alongside you Clinical infrastructure, including EMR, intake systems, and referral pipelines, that is already built and ready Leadership that came up in this work and still does it We are a Black-owned, woman-owned, LGBTQ+-affirming practice. Our values are not a tagline. They shape every hire, every clinical decision, and every client interaction. Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field Active Maryland licensure: LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, LCSW-C, LMFT, or equivalent eligible licensure track Experience in outpatient, private practice, community mental health, school-based, or integrated behavioral health settings preferred Strong clinical foundation in trauma, anxiety, depressive disorders, family systems, and relational work Experience serving children, adolescents, adults, couples, and/or families preferred Genuine commitment to culturally responsive, identity-affirming, trauma-informed care Comfort with EMR documentation; SimplePractice experience is a plus Bilingual clinicians are strongly encouraged to apply
Pay:
From $45.00 per hour
Benefits:
Flexible schedule Application Question(s): How do you build trust and therapeutic rapport with new clients, especially those who may be hesitant, guarded, or navigating trauma? What is your average weekly availability for client sessions, and what days/times can you consistently commit to over the next 12 months? What populations, age groups, and presenting concerns do you feel most confident serving? What theoretical orientations and interventions most naturally guide your clinical work? What is your typical turnaround time for completing progress notes, treatment plans, and documentation after sessions? What type of supervision and professional development support helps you grow best as an emerging clinician? What are you looking for in your next clinical home, and what would make you want to stay long-term? What drew you to Behavioral Health Connections, and how do you see your clinical values aligning with our mission and community focus?
