This role offers an excellent opportunity for licensed professional counseling residents to develop their clinical skills within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mental health counseling, with experience in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and working with diverse populations, including children, individuals with disabilities, and those experiencing trauma or grief. As an LPC Resident, you will provide direct patient care, conduct assessments, and participate in clinical research initiatives while adhering to all regulatory standards. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to determine client needs and treatment plans. Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis. Implement crisis management protocols and crisis intervention strategies to ensure client safety and stability. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans that address mental health issues, developmental disabilities, PTSD, addiction, grief, and gender issues in counseling. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations while utilizing medical terminology effectively. Engage in case management activities to coordinate care for clients across inpatient, outpatient, hospital, or clinic settings. Utilize telehealth platforms to provide remote counseling services when appropriate. Apply behavior management techniques to support clients' progress toward recovery goals. Contribute to ongoing professional development by staying current with ICD coding updates (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding practices, and emerging therapeutic modalities. Experience Completion of a master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited program. Active enrollment or recent completion of licensure requirements for Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) residency or equivalent credentialing process. Prior experience in clinical counseling within outpatient or inpatient settings is highly desirable. Demonstrated familiarity with medical records management and medical terminology relevant to behavioral health. Experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), geriatrics, or special education populations is preferred. Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles as they relate to mental health treatment is advantageous. Proven ability to handle crisis situations effectively while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
