Job Description
Start building the private practice you've envisioned while receiving the support you need to grow. Float On Counseling is a well-established, highly rated private group practice serving the Tampa area through our Carrollwood and Fishhawk/Lithia offices, as well as telehealth throughout Florida. We are seeking a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern (RMHCI) to join our practice as a 1099 independent contractor. This opportunity is ideal for a registered intern who wants to develop strong clinical skills while learning how to build and maintain a successful private practice. We handle much of the business side so you can focus on providing exceptional client care and continuing to grow professionally. We are especially interested in clinicians who either have experience treating anxiety disorders or are excited to become skilled in treating anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, health anxiety, fear of flying, and related conditions using evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Interest or experience in couples counseling is a plus but is not required. Realistic Caseload Expectations We believe in being transparent. Building a successful private practice takes time, and your caseload will grow gradually based on factors such as your availability, responsiveness, specialties, and willingness to implement the practice-building strategies we provide. This is not a "full caseload on day one" position. We invest significant time, resources, marketing, and guidance into helping clinicians succeed, and we are looking for someone who is interested in establishing a long-term professional relationship with our practice. Caseload growth is typically faster for clinicians who: Maintain broad availability within our office hours Are open to providing both in-person and virtual sessions Maintain therapist profiles on directories such as Psychology Today Are responsive to our client care coordinator for new client inquiries Embrace opportunities to continue learning and growing clinically Are creative with ways they put themselves out there in the community What You'll Do Provide individual counseling services in person from either our Carrollwood or Fishhawk/Lithia office, as well as secure telehealth sessions throughout Florida. Telehealth sessions may be provided from home under proper conditions and with an established plan with supervisor. Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) Manage your schedule and communicate appropriately with clients regarding appointments and continuity of care Maintain a professional therapist profile and participate in reasonable practice-building recommendations Collaborate with practice leadership and fellow clinicians Continue developing clinical competence through ongoing learning and consultation Meet weekly supervisory requirements for registered internship What We Provide Included as part of our 65/35 contractor split: Billing services Free EHR with integrated HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform HIPAA-compliant email account Furnished office space Office supplies and routine cleaning Marketing support Strong website presence and online visibility Client inquiry management Administrative support Qualified Supervision Joel Schmidt, LMHC, is a Florida Qualified Supervisor. Depending on your individual circumstances and supervision needs, this position may provide opportunities to satisfy at least some of your registered intern supervision requirements. This can be discussed further during the interview process. What We're Looking For Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern (RMHCI) Passion for providing high-quality, evidence-based therapy Interest in treating anxiety disorders, OCD, panic attacks, and phobias, or enthusiasm for developing expertise in these areas Interest in learning ACT and ERP approaches (prior experience is welcomed but not required) Organized, dependable, and comfortable using technology Excellent communication and documentation skills Willingness to build and maintain a caseload Desire to become part of a supportive, long-term practice Preferred Qualifications Previous clinical experience working with anxiety disorders Experience providing telehealth services Comfortable working with adults and older adolescents Compensation 1099 Independent Contractor 65/35 split (therapist receives 65% of collected session fees) Typical per-session compensation ranges from approximately $45-$84 , depending on the client fee for the session Flexible schedule within available office hours Additional Information Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of either our Carrollwood or Fishhawk/Lithia office and be willing to provide both in-person and virtual services.
