School Based Psychotherapist David Godinez, Co-Chief Programs Officer Pamela Ponce, Co-Chief Programs Officer Psychotherapist - LPC/LCSW This position is eligible for Loan Repayment through the federal government. 6. Job Summary The Psychotherapist is responsible for providing and coordinating depression care for patients in the Integrated Behavioral Health program, local Independent School District feeder school counselors. The Psychotherapist educates patients, parents/guardians about mental health and its treatment, provides behavioral activation, monitors depressive symptoms and response to medication when applicable and conducts the SBIRT screening instrument when appropriate. Works closely with the school counselors, PV Navigator, Power 4Uth, Pediatrician, Primary care provider and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists in their respective roles and to revise treatment plans when indicated. Referrals for counseling will come from Elementary, Middle and High School counselors and other referral sources if working outside of the schools at given periods of time. The Psychotherapist may need to coordinate and plan programs and activities with the schools, individuals, groups, or families to meet their social and emotional needs. Sessions may last between 30 minutes to an hour, or more times per week as required for treatment. 7.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Minimum three years casework/case management or related experience. Computer proficiencies in Microsoft Office Word, Excel Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel for up to three days. Bilingual — Fluent in both English/Spanish, reading, writing, and speaking. Capacity to work as part of a team. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct an initial assessment of all clients that meet the criteria for behavioral health program to determine behavioral health needs making a five axis diagnosis per the DSM V and utilizing evidence based screening tools and appropriate for age levels and behavioral health issues. Consult with client, parents/guardians and other Project Vida behavioral health provider about treatment options and preferences; coordinates initiation of treatment plan Monitor clients closely for changes in severity of symptoms, co-morbidity issues, co-occurring disorders and medication side effects; educate clients and family (as appropriate) about medications and medication side effects, as needed; encourage treatment adherence Use behavioral activation techniques with clients as an adjunct to other treatments Provide optional evidence-based counseling methods as indicated Participate in regular caseload review with collaborative partners, focusing on client's progress or lack thereof. Coordinate and facilitates communication between client, school counselor, primary care physician, psychiatrist; and family members when appropriate to provide recommendations for change in treatment plan according to evidence-based algorithm and expert supervision; and support implementation of new plan Document all encounters according to organizational policies and procedures; monitor outcome measurements Facilitate treatment referrals, as needed. Complete relapse prevention plan with clients who are in remission Facilitate support groups for clients in the behavioral health program when appropriate and available 10. Requirements Degree and state required licensure in counseling; social work; marriage and family therapy or psychology Effective written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to establish rapport quickly with a wide range of people Minimum 2 years clinical experience in a relevant setting Knowledge of community resources. 11.
