Under the direction of the Director of Counseling, and within the scope of the agency's goals and objectives, the Therapist at the residential facility is responsible for the provision of individual, family and group counseling services to clients residing in the emergency shelter and the transitional living program.SCHEDULE/HOURS
37.5 hours/week.Monday - Friday. Will includes some evenings. (Firm schedule with 1 day of remote work to complete administrative tasks and provide telehealth services upon client request.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide direct comprehensive mental health services to clients residing in the emergency shelter, including crisis counseling, individual, family, and support group counseling, solution-focused therapy, completion of intakes, psycho-social history, individual service plans, individual counseling, and support groups. 2. Complete standard psychological tests and/or other appropriate assessments in order to diagnose, develop a treatment plan, and implement treatment plan utilizing appropriate clinical techniques. 3. Provide regular formal training and support to staff related to mental health interventions. 4. Provide creative interventions to families and community that includes supporting and leading organizational events. 5. Meet weekly with the CHAT Shelter Therapist to coordinate whole family healing services. 6. Assist with facilitation of DV 101, AWBW, and other psycho education and support groups offered to emergency and transitional shelter residents, as needed. 7. Staff a weekly shift on our 24 hour crisis line. 8. Maintain thorough and accurate records of activities, including completion of agency forms, progress notes and service tracking, as well as the timely submission of all these forms to the appropriate agency department. 9. Participate in all agency meetings as appropriate: program meetings, weekly and monthly staff meetings, case management meetings. 10. Demonstrate ability to be an effective team member by communicating openly, co-operating with other staff, demonstrating positive attitudes and working together to solve problems. 11. Communicate professionally and appropriately with staff and the public by observing confidentiality, staying focused on job tasks and demonstrating active listening skills. 12. Demonstrate ability to work effectively under supervision by being open to feedback, communicating all clinical information to supervisor and providing supervisor access to all clinical notes and records, reporting on activities as directed, and staying within the job description and following through on suggestions. 13. Other duties as assigned which may include but is not limited to: heavy cleaning, lifting, and organizing supplies.QUALIFICATIONS
Clinical Associate Level (APCC, AMFT, ASW). An understanding of the scope of domestic violence, general trauma, generational trauma, poverty, family violence, community violence, and how these factors impact development and wellness. Must possess experience in both individual and group settings. Ability to provide short term, brief and crisis intervention services. Must be sensitive to the needs of adults including the older adult population and youth clients impacted by domestic violence. Demonstrated ability and passion to work effectively with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
