Job Description

JCADA Therapist Job Posting For 25 years, JCADA has served the Greater Washington, DC community by empowering survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) to live safely and educating young people about healthy relationships. Today, JCADA provides free counseling and victim advocacy support to IPV survivors. JCADA also educates the community about the warning signs of abuse, the dynamics of healthy relationships, and the best practices for supporting a victim of intimate partner violence. JCADA Therapists empower survivors of IPV by helping them build tools and coping strategies that reduce trauma-related symptoms and increase their emotional and physical safety. This position is supervised by the Clinical Director. Work collaboratively with the Clinical Team to: Provide counseling to victims of intimate partner violence. o Provide 1-1 therapy sessions, and facilitate therapy groups o Safety plan with survivors o Utilize trauma-informed practices and other evidence-based modalities o Provide psychoeducation to clients o Coordinate with the JCADA Victim Advocacy team to develop a service plan that meets clients' needs for physical and emotional safety o Ability to work with clients one evening per week o Maintain records & documents Key Attributes of a Successful Therapist at JCADA
  • Knowledge or Willingness to Learn o Dynamics of IPV o Safety planning with survivors of IPV o General resources and benefits available to survivors of IPV o Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite o Self-care strategies to minimize effects of burnout/vicarious trauma
  • Skills and Abilities o Strong interpersonal, active listening, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills o Punctuality both in the workplace and responding to clients in a timely manner o Sensitivity to the needs of members of diverse cultural backgrounds and diverse socio-economic backgrounds o Well-organized and able to maintain records o Maintain confidentiality and discretion o Ability to learn new systems and tools to better assist clients Education and Experience • Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, or related field • Maintain an LMSW license • Demonstrated interest or experience in working with survivors of IPV is preferred • Prior knowledge or willingness to learn about the unique needs of Jewish survivors of
IPV Salary:
$60,000-$65,000 plus benefits, including: long-term disability, life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance plan, SIMPLE Individual Retirement Account with match up to 3%, unlimited paid time off, and more. The value of our package offered is approximately $12,000. This position is contingent upon grant funding. This position is full time and hybrid. Most of our clinical work is remote work.
