Other Description The Director of Counseling/ADA serves under the leadership of the Vice President for Student Development and Services. The Director manages and oversees the daily operations of the Counseling Department and provides a wide range of clinical services, crisis intervention/consultation, and training and consultation to faculty and staff. He/she provides training for practicum interns and works closely with Student Health Services and provides screenings and referrals to the consulting Psychiatrist. The Director provides direct therapeutic counseling services to students; and collaborates and communicates with faculty and staff to address the academic, therapeutic and health and wellness needs of students. The Director coordinates the disability program to ensure ADA compliance. He/she coordinates, monitors and presents training sessions for outreach efforts, educational programs, and presentations on mental health. The Director implements programs for multicultural, international, and diverse student population; collects data to develop reports, and techniques to provide best practices for counseling services. The Director coordinates and oversees the Parent Component for the GEAR Up Program and performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications The successful candidate must be a licensed Professional Counselor with a master's degree in psychology, counseling, mental health or related discipline. The candidate must possess considerable experience (3-5 years) in counseling college students and with community approaches to delivery of counseling services. He/she must have considerable knowledge of counseling techniques, therapeutic assessment and evaluation, and ADA laws and regulations. He/she must have experience in supervision and leadership of a college or university counseling center or a similar outpatient clinic. The candidate must have strong collaboration, outreach and consultation skills; excellent written and oral communications skills; and computer, grant writing and presentation skills.
