Job Description
Job Requirements Position Summary The Mental Health Counselor will provide advanced counseling, patient education and other therapeutic interventions to clients requiring these services. The Counselor will be responsible for the mental health assessment during the client intake process, preparing and following treatment plans, conducting group therapies making community referrals, and will participate in care team meetings. Minimum Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent from an accredited school Experience A minimum of three (3) years' experience in mental health counseling or one (1) year of experience with a Master's degree. License/Registration/Certifications Certification or License in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work Current CPR certification Preferred Requirements Preferred Education N/A Preferred Experience N/A Preferred License/Registration/Certifications N/A Core Job Responsibilities Performs an assessment of patients' stated stressors and coping skills/needs and formulates treatment plans Conducts specific therapeutic groups such as anxiety/pain, stress management, depression, and relaxation. Conducts individual/family therapy for clients as ordered by physician Participates and promotes educational activities for clients. Works with other staff and case management in setting referrals for clients needing additional mental health services. Tracks and follows-up on mental health referrals made outside of the clinic. Ensures that mental health services are provided according to the prescribed timetable within the treatment plan. Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times. Perform other duties as assigned.
