Department Counseling Position Type Non-Exempt Employment Status Part-Time Salary $23.00 - $28.00 per hour Open Date 01/27/2026 Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Position Summary Information Job Description Summary This position reports to the Director of Counseling. The services provided through the Counseling Center aid students in coping with obstacles such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and other personal issues which might otherwise interfere with educational and personal development. Counselors may also suggest referrals to other community and college resources when appropriate and with the agreement of the student. All services are confidential. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology or related field. Eighteen (18) months' working experience in mental health or related field. Experience working with at-risk student populations. Must be licensed mental health professional in the state of Texas such as Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of theory, practice, and ethics within the counseling profession. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across campus units. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience in outreach, consultation, and mental health crisis management. Knowledge of psychological crisis intervention and management. Experience working at a Counseling Center in Higher Education. Demonstrated competence in a broad range of college campus-related concerns to include working with students of various multicultural backgrounds. Experience working with electronic mental health records management systems, such as Titanium. Special Instructions to Applicants This is a security-sensitive position.
