Full Job Description Voice of Hope:
Lubbock, Texas Voice of Hope Rape Crisis offers help, hope, and healing to all persons impacted by sexual violence through advocacy, awareness, and collaboration in Lubbock and surrounding communities.
TITLE :
Counselor
REPORTS TO
: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
JOB SUMMARY
: This position is responsible for counseling of sexual assault and sex trafficking victims and secondary victims. Other major duties may include the supervision and training of staff/ volunteers/interns who support the program. Essential Job functions, duties, and responsibilities: Provide culturally-grounded holistic short and long-term counseling with survivors sexual violence presenting with a wide range of mental health and/or psychosocial disorders with individuals, families and groups utilizing various psychotherapeutic modalities, including trauma-informed therapeutic techniques Develop comprehensive and culturally-grounded service plans and diagnostic assessments in accordance with evidence/best practice, professional ethics and boundaries in partnership with the client to establish individualized goals and interventions Conduct client assessments at entry into program, ongoing periodic evaluation, and assessment/evaluation at exit of program. Maintain counseling case documentation in accordance with all applicable agency, state and federal policies, laws, and instructions. Ensure case documentation is up-to-date, legible, reflects professionalism, and reflective of services provided. Files are subject to review at any time. Participate in outreach/consultation services in the community. Maintain a caseload of ongoing and active clients. Facilitate and oversee support groups for victims of sexual assault Participate in community area coalitions and task forces to build alliances and partnerships with community-based organizations to increase access to support services for clients Assist with the agency hotline and provide support, safety planning and other crisis related services during and outside of office hours Supervision of interns. Handles client concerns with regards to counseling issues. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Collaborate with VoH Direct Service staff as well as other treatment providers to address myriad of client needs Adhere to all agency, state and federal policies and regulations, including TX occupational laws and code of conduct relevant to profession, and professional code of conduct. Maintain in good standing TX professional license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
: Licensed by the state of Texas to provide mental/behavioral health including Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Minimum 2-4 years of professional post-graduate culturally grounded clinical experience providing therapeutic services to traditionally underserved populations Experience providing mental health services to adults, adolescents and children utilizing various modalities Experience in trauma-informed service provision Knowledge of mental health classifications/DSM-V Knowledge of standard documentation requirements for clinical services Knowledge of gender-based violence issues and their impact on individuals and families and/or experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers, internet searches, smartphone devices and other software packages Must be willing to be on call evenings and weekends for periodic hotline availability Must submit to and successfully complete a background investigation Ability to continuously expand knowledge base through continuing education of innovative clinical techniques and research Ability to maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, community and national partners Ability to work effectively with diverse group of stakeholders Ability to maintain flexible schedule in accordance with program needs Must be knowledgeable of the principles of sound therapeutic practices with victims of sexual abuse/assault, including working with the continuum of sexual abuse/assault services. Must understand victimization and demonstrate practices sensitive to sexual abuse/assault issues in therapy. Strong oral communication skills required to effectively communicate with a broad range of individuals. Strong written communications skills required to maintain quality documentation. Ability to prioritize all aspects of the job is a key to success. Ability to provide group, individual, and family counseling sessions. Strong problem-solving skills required and must be a common-sense thinker who can be a quick decision maker when necessary. Must display professionalism and leadership qualities. May be required to lift boxes up to 25 lbs.
MINIMUM CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
Must be a licensed counselor in the State of Texas and have a minimum of a Master's Degree in one or more of the following: mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work or related field. Must have valid driver's license in State of TX and driving record must comply with insurance requirements.
