Description StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare)is seeking anOpioid Treatment Counselorto join the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) team. The OTP program providescomprehensive treatment for individuals with opioid use disorder using FDA approved medications as part of a holistic treatment approach.
Responsibilities:
This vital role provides support to individuals in treatment and their family members through individual and family counseling.
The Opioid Treatment Counselor will be required to assess the needs of the individual in treatment and their family, make appropriate referrals, as needed, and oversee treatment progress.
Opioid Counselors develop treatment plans to meet identified needs, observe and monitor clients on their caseloads and work with other OTP team members in delivering services to all individuals in the treatment program.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the OTP Supervisor with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Opioid Treatment Counselors participate in the programs interdisciplinary treatment team alongside the medical director, nurses, and other behavioral health counselors.
Schedule:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Work is performed from 5:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday - Friday and rotating Saturday shifts from 5:30 am to 9:15 am.

Qualifications:
This position requires credentials recognized by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to provide counseling services.
Graduation from High school or equivalent and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC);OR
A Counselor in Training (CIT) supervised by an LCDC or Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC), and eight (8) years of work experience in a Human Services Field (Psychology, Sociology, Family Studies, etc.),OR
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in a Human Services Field (Psychology, Sociology, Family Studies, etc.), LCDC, and one (1) year of work experience in the human service field.
LPC and LPC Associate candidates also qualify for consideration.
Bachelors degree and LCDC,preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery stages, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, fax, copier, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft office products is required.
Knowledge of human service delivery systems.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to organize, prioritize a variety of assignments and manage time effectively.
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with clients, other employees and the public.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Requirements:
Must have current Texas drivers license, liability auto insurance, and be insurable under the Agency insurance.
Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
