Available Benefits Help for . Job Summary Serve as the ESC mental health counselor in underserved districts within the Region 9 service area. Job duties will include facilitating training, PLCs, assessments, data collection, and reporting. Provide direct services, technical assistance, and professional development in the areas such as: general mental health, suicide prevention, bullying awareness and prevention, behavior, crisis management, crisis prevention and response, grief and trauma-informed care. Collaboration with LMHAs (Local mental Health Authority) and other community mental health resources. Qualifications
Education/Certification Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field required Master's degree required
School Counseling experience preferred
Valid license in Texas as a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (i.e.
LPC, LCSW, LMFT
) required Special Knowledge/Skills Ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver professional development face-to-face and virtually Knowledge in a variety of methodologies and strategies
Comfort with public speaking to small, medium and large groups (face-to-face and/or virtually)
Ability to build relationships, establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve program goals Knowledge of research-based strategies and resources to address Mental Health and Behavior Ability to develop and deliver training and technical assistance for educators and students Ability to interpret data and evaluate program effectiveness Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience Required Three years of school counselor and/or experience as a mental health provider required Experience in delivering mental health/counseling services All-level experience preferred Professional development experience preferred
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Develop, conduct, and/or coordinate professional development and related materials regarding mental health with a focus on general mental health, human trafficking, dating violence, suicide prevention, bullying awareness and prevention, crisis management, grief and trauma-informed care. 2. Provide mental health counseling assistance and support to assigned campuses.
3. Provide support and technical assistance in the areas of mental health and behavior management. 4. Conduct student seminars addressing the topics related to mental health (general mental health, suicide prevention, bullying awareness and prevention), human trafficking, dating violence, crisis management, behavior management, and behavior management. 5. Develop, conduct, and/or coordinate professional development designed to impact student mental health and wellness across all assigned student groups.
6. Provide technical assistance and support designed to impact student mental health and wellness across all assigned student groups. 7. Assist in identifying the needs of all assigned campuses, with an emphasis on targeted/high priority campuses using all data resources. 8. Assist school personnel in the implementation of initiatives related to mental health and substance use prevention by educating personnel in best-practice based programs and research-based practices and other public and private mental health and substance use programs. 9. Build relationships with district personnel and education stakeholders through onsite visits and a variety of communication methods. 10. Provide professional development and technical assistance through face-to-face and/or remote technology, as necessary.
