OLD TOWN PSYCHOLOGY
Alexandria, Virginia King Street Licensed Couples & Individual Therapist Full-Time LPC or LMFT Start Date:
June 2026 If you are an experienced couples therapist who is tired of insurance panels, productivity quotas, and group practices that treat clinicians like interchangeable parts, please keep reading. Old Town Psychology is a therapy and testing practice on historic King Street in Alexandria. We do unhurried, high-quality clinical work for clients who actively choose us — and we are looking for one outstanding clinician to join the team in June 2026 . About the Role This is a full-time clinical role centered on couples and individual therapy. You will build and manage your own caseload of motivated, private-pay clients in a practice designed around clinical excellence — not throughput. Individual therapy. A blended caseload of couples and individual adult clients, calibrated to your strengths and interests. Couples therapy focus. Formal training in EFT, the Gottman Method, IFIO, PACT, or a comparable evidence-based couples modality is strongly preferred. Real clinical autonomy. You set your treatment approach, your hours, and how you build your practice within OTP. No insurance panels. No utilization review. No productivity quotas. The work is the work. Compensation Top of the Northern Virginia market for experienced licensed clinicians. We pay for quality and we pay well. Compensation is structured to reward depth of experience and clinical specialization — strong candidates will find the package genuinely competitive with the best private-pay practices in the DMV. Full benefits package included. Specific numbers discussed early in the conversation so neither of us wastes time. Who We're Looking For We are hiring for experience and quality. This is not an entry-level role and not a residency position.Required:
Fully licensed in Virginia as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW (license in hand or transferable for a June 2026 start) Several years of post-licensure clinical experience Demonstrated track record of effective work with adult clients Professionalism, reliability, and judgment that show up in every client interaction Strongly preferred: Formal training and meaningful experience in evidence-based couples therapy (Gottman) Comfort working with high-functioning, professionally accomplished clients who expect — and notice — clinical sophistication Experience in or genuine interest in a private-pay practice model Ability to keep a substantial caseload while staying clinically sharp Why Old Town Psychology A practice built around the clinician. The administrative machinery — intake coordination, scheduling, billing, marketing, referrals — runs in the background so you can focus on the room. Strong referral pipeline. We have an established and growing network of referring physicians, psychiatrists, schools, and attorneys throughout Northern Virginia and DC. A beautiful place to practice. A thoughtfully designed office on King Street in Old Town Alexandria — walkable, professional, and the kind of space clients comment on. Real colleagues. A small team of psychologists and therapists who actually consult with each other. Case conferences, informal hallway conversations, the works. Stability and growth. We are a financially healthy, growing practice with a multi-year roadmap. This is a long-horizon role, not a placeholder. What the Work Actually Looks Like A typical week is built around clinical sessions with couples and individuals you have come to know well, with time protected for documentation, consultation, and the kind of thinking real therapy requires. You will have a say in the structure of your week, the types of cases you take, and how your specialization develops over time. We do not measure clinicians in widgets per hour. How to Apply Send a current CV and a brief note (a few paragraphs is plenty) telling us: What draws you to couples work and which modalities you have trained in What you are looking for in your next clinical home Why a private-pay practice appeals to you We read every application personally. Qualified candidates will hear back from us directly — usually within a week — and the interview process is designed to be a real conversation, not a gauntlet.Old Town Psychology Alexandria, Virginia Job Type:
