QMHPs play a vital role in helping individuals and families navigate crisis situations, reduce the need for hospitalization, and connect with ongoing treatment and community supports. Working under the supervision and direction of a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP), QMHPs provide crisis intervention, stabilization support, skill-building, care coordination, and community-based services in homes, schools, hospitals, and other community settings. This position serves children, adolescents, and adults experiencing serious mental illness, emotional disturbances, substance use concerns, trauma-related conditions, and significant psychosocial stressors.
Responsibilities:
Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) Respond to behavioral health crises in community-based settings as part of the Mobile Crisis Response team. Assist LMHPs in gathering information necessary for crisis assessments and risk evaluations. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services under LMHP direction. Support implementation of individualized safety plans and crisis response strategies. Engage individuals and families in services using person-centered and recovery-oriented approaches. Assist with follow-up contacts and linkage to ongoing behavioral health services after crisis intervention. Collaborate with hospitals, schools, CSBs, law enforcement, emergency services personnel, and community providers as directed by the treatment team.
Community Stabilization Provide intensive short-term stabilization services following a behavioral health crisis. Deliver face-to-face interventions focused on symptom management, coping skills, emotional regulation, and recovery support. Assist individuals in implementing treatment recommendations and stabilization plans developed by the treatment team. Provide psychoeducation to individuals and families regarding mental health symptoms, treatment, and recovery. Support engagement with outpatient treatment, medication management, and other recommended services. Assist individuals in addressing barriers to stability, including housing, transportation, employment, education, and access to community resources. Care Coordination & Documentation Coordinate services with community providers, managed care organizations, schools, hospitals, and family supports. Complete clinical documentation in accordance with DMAS, DBHDS, HIPAA, and organizational requirements. Maintain accurate service notes, progress updates, treatment-related documentation, and discharge information within required timeframes. Participate in team meetings, supervision, case reviews, and ongoing training activities. Maintain compliance with all agency, state, and federal regulations. Qualifications Active QMHP-A, QMHP-C, or QMHP-T registration required. Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, or a related field required. Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health crises, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or trauma preferred. Knowledge of community-based behavioral health services and recovery-oriented practices preferred. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the service area. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Ability to successfully pass required background screenings.
