Intensive In-Home Counselor, QMHP, QMHP-T, Tidewater Counseling Group, Llc Richmond, VA Job Details Contract $20 - $35 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Professional development assistance Qualifications CPR Certification Teamwork Master's degree Driver's License Bachelor's degree First Aid Certification Working with individuals with trauma-related disorders Adolescents Working with families Medicaid Bachelor's degree in human services Full Job Description Join our team as an Intensive In-Home (IIH) Clinician (QMHP, LMHP, or QMHP-T) providing Intensive In-Home Services to children and adolescents with serious emotional or behavioral health needs in their home and community settings. In this role, you will deliver intensive, family-focused, and goal-oriented interventions designed to stabilize the youth in their current living environment, prevent out-of-home placement, and improve overall functioning. Services are strength-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered, focusing on emotional regulation, behavioral management, and family system support. You will collaborate closely with the youth, caregivers, and treatment team to implement individualized service plans that promote long-term stability and success. Duties Provide Intensive In-Home (IIH) Services to children and adolescents in their home and community in accordance with DMAS and DBHDS requirements. Deliver structured, clinically driven interventions that address emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric needs. Implement individualized service plans by teaching coping skills, anger management, emotional regulation, and behavioral modification strategies. Work directly with caregivers to strengthen parenting skills, improve family communication, and support consistent behavioral interventions within the home. Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services, including same-day response when necessary. Conduct ongoing assessment of risk factors and safety concerns, implementing safety planning as needed. Assist families with accessing community resources, including school supports, medical care, and social services. Monitor and document progress toward treatment goals during each session. Complete accurate, timely, and audit-compliant documentation, including progress notes, crisis notes, and service summaries. Collaborate with case managers, therapists, school personnel, and other providers to ensure coordinated care. Maintain a flexible schedule to meet the intensive needs of the youth and family, including evenings and weekends as required. Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training in compliance with agency and regulatory standards. Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with Medicaid guidelines, agency policies, and ethical standards. Promote stabilization and step-down to lower levels of care as progress is achieved. Qualifications Must meet criteria for Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP), or QMHP-Trainee (QMHP-T) in accordance with Virginia DBHDS standards. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance or behavioral health needs required. Bachelor's degree in a human services field required; Master's degree preferred for clinical roles. Demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent development, family systems, and behavioral health interventions. Experience providing intensive, community-based, or crisis services preferred. Ability to implement trauma-informed, family-centered, and strength-based interventions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage youth and families in high-stress situations. Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of Medicaid documentation requirements and ability to complete accurate, timely, and audit-compliant notes. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel within the community required. Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe). Ability to pass background checks, including criminal history and child/adult abuse registry screenings. Basic computer skills for documentation and use of electronic health records. Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries, ethics, and confidentiality in all interactions.
