In this vital role, you will provide expert counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and co-occurring conditions. Your expertise will guide clients through recovery journeys, utilizing evidence-based practices to foster lasting change. Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and intake interviews, to determine treatment needs and develop personalized care plans. Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Implement evidence-based addiction counseling techniques and behavioral health interventions tailored to diverse populations, including children, families, and adults. Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols, ensuring patient safety at all times. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts and ensure comprehensive patient care. Stay current with research developments in addiction medicine, mental health counseling, and behavioral health practices to continually enhance service quality. Qualifications Valid certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor or equivalent credential from an accredited organization. Must be licensed, and not a supervisee.. Proven experience in psychotherapy, addiction counseling, and clinical counseling within hospital or community settings. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and CPT coding for documentation purposes. Familiarity with medical records management systems and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. Expertise in crisis intervention techniques, trauma-informed care including PTSD care, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Excellent skills in patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and case management across diverse populations. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
