Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Support Specialist to join our Residential Crisis team. In this role, you will provide peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises, fostering a safe and supportive environment for recovery. Your lived experience and expertise in behavioral health will be instrumental in guiding clients toward stabilization and ongoing wellness. The ideal candidate will possess strong crisis intervention skills, a passion for mentoring, and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to document progress effectively. Responsibilities Offer crisis intervention and management to individuals in residential crisis settings, ensuring immediate safety and stabilization. Provide behavioral health support, including mental health counseling and addiction counseling, tailored to each client's needs. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage engagement in recovery processes. Serve as a mentor by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and resilience. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using EHR systems to document client interactions, progress notes, and treatment plans accurately. Assist clients in developing coping strategies and connecting them with community resources for ongoing support. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and crisis management procedures at all times. Requirements Lived experience with behavioral health challenges or addiction recovery is highly valued. Proven skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral health support. Knowledge of mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and social work principles. Strong mentoring abilities with excellent communication skills. Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques. Experience working with EHR systems for documentation purposes. Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively. Relevant certifications or training in crisis intervention or behavioral health are preferred but not required.
