Job Description

RUTLAND CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS VACANCY
- Therapeutic Counselor Allen Street Campus & Pier Point Personalized Learning Center Rutland City Public Schools is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and highly organized Therapeutic School Counselor to join our specialized therapeutic programs at Allen Street Campus and Pier Point Personalized Learning Center. This position serves students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs and requires a strong commitment to trauma-informed, student- and family-centered practice. The successful candidate will provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and family support while collaborating closely with educators, clinicians, administrators, and outside agencies. The counselor will play a key role in helping students develop emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, healthy communication, and positive relationships within a therapeutic educational environment.
Essential Qualifications and Responsibilities include:
Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, and diverse learning styles Ability to apply counseling theories and evidence-based techniques to individuals, small groups, and families Strong collaboration skills and the ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges in an educational setting Commitment to building strong partnerships with families and supporting student success across settings
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree in School Counseling or a related field Current Vermont Agency of Education licensure (or eligibility) Strong background working within schools or therapeutic educational programs
Position Compensation:
Salary range is $47,252 to $92,401 (based on the 26-27 salary schedule), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
