Job Description

Must possess the Washington Department of Health Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) credential to be considered for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range. Compensation decisions depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Peer Support Specialists will participate in outreach efforts to engage clients, provide transportation and support for various types of appointments, provide resource referrals, support women at vocational sites, help coordinate children's appointments, and work in the community to raise awareness of the program and the addiction and mental health crisis that currently exist in the community. Support and assist women and women with children in the Adult and Teen Challenge Women with Children program.
  • Utilize social work techniques to assess client needs and develop appropriate intervention plans
  • Serve as a mentor and guide clients in various areas of their lives
  • Offer support to individuals struggling with substance use and mental health disorders
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage high-stress situations
  • Collaborate with other professionals and systems to ensure comprehensive care for clients Skills
  • Proficient in motivational interviewing techniques
  • Strong background in social work principles and practices
  • Experience in mentoring individuals and providing guidance
  • Knowledge of addiction counseling methods and strategies
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention and crisis management techniques
  • Understanding of behavioral health principles and practices
  • Ability to conduct mental health counseling sessions effectively
  • Must have computer skills to document encounters w/in HER
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Active PSS or CRM credential required This position requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
