Certified Peer Support Specialist - Puyallup CONQUER Puyallup, WA Job Details Part-time $25 - $26 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance Flexible schedule Life insurance Qualifications Interpersonal skills Attention to detail Motivational interviewing Organizational skills Working with individuals with mental health conditions Community relationship building Working with individuals with substance use disorders Full Job Description The Puyallup Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) position provides support in the Puyallup Jail for incarcerated individuals upon entry and transitioning to care in the community as well as re-entry planning. It also provides peer support out of CONQUER's Puyallup Office for individuals in CONQUER's mental health and substance use disorder programs and provides community outreach. Preferred Qualifications - Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Engage and connect with jailed individuals and citizens who may need substance use disorder and/or mental health services and ensure they are aware of our services as well as other services that are available to them
  • Provide in-person and telehealth opioid use non-clinical interventions
  • Assist with referrals to primary care and MOUD providers
  • Coordinate with services in CPSS's local and surrounding areas
  • Assist individuals in determining desired objectives, personal strengths and help guide them to reach his/her recovery goals and remain engaged in these activities
  • Encourage and assist in finding solutions to assist individuals in maintaining attendance with medical appointments
  • Provide support founded on key principles of respect, shared responsibility, and mutual agreement
  • Build rapport with individuals and develop a professional one-on-one relationship with the participant to encourage, motivate, and support them throughout treatment and long-term recovery, while maintaining appropriate ethical and professional boundaries
  • Help individuals during times of difficulty to explore options that may be beneficial to their recovery and in maintaining stability
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Facilitate groups using strategies targeting common issues, based on group and individual needs and level of receptivity
  • Understand and adhere to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR part 2) Requirements
  • Proof of Certified Peer Support Specialist Certification (WAC 246-929-100) and/or Agency Affiliated Counselor certification (WAC 246-810-015, and
RCW 18.19.210
) within 60-days from the date of hire
  • Previous experience in addiction counseling, crisis intervention, or a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of behavioral health systems and resources
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other professionals
  • Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals in their recovery journey
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and client needs
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation
Pay:
$25.00 - $26.00 per hour
