Job Description

•Must already have CPC Certificate. Pay Range for this position is $25.00 - 26.00•Job Summary The Peer Counselor plays a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals facing challenges related to mental health, addiction, and behavioral health issues. This position involves utilizing personal experiences and training to assist clients in navigating their recovery journey. The Peer Counselor will foster a supportive environment, promote self-advocacy, and empower clients to achieve their goals through effective communication and crisis intervention techniques. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support to clients, offering encouragement and guidance based on shared experiences. Facilitate group sessions focused on recovery, coping strategies, and personal development. Utilize crisis intervention skills to manage acute situations effectively and safely. Assist clients in accessing community resources and services related to mental health and addiction recovery. Employ motivational interviewing techniques to help clients identify their goals and develop actionable plans. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and any incidents that may arise. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance counseling skills. Qualifications Must have completed the educational requirements as a Certified Peer Counselor in Washington State as defined in
WAC 182-538D-0200.
Must have valid Food Handlers Permit from the Health Department. Must meet health requirements, i.e. - flu vaccination, COVID-19 boosters, tb testing - per licensing requirements. Valid Washington State Driver's License required or the equivalent if residence in Washington is new. Must demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload. The Certified Peer Counselor must be in recovery and willing to share their recovery journey.
