Behavioral Health Director & Chief Medical Officer Position Summary The School-Based Behavioral Health Counselor provides comprehensive behavioral health services to children and adolescents within Fayette County schools through an integrated care model operated by a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The counselor delivers assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, care coordination, and consultation services to support students' emotional, behavioral, social, and academic success. This position collaborates closely with school personnel, primary care providers, families, community agencies, and behavioral health team members to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care for underserved populations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Services Conduct psychosocial, behavioral health, and risk assessments for students. Complete diagnostic evaluations consistent with DSM-5-TR
criteria. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans. Provide evidence-based individual, family, and group therapy. Deliver interventions for anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, behavioral disorders, substance use concerns, and adjustment difficulties. Conduct suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention services when necessary. Develop and implement safety plans for students experiencing behavioral health crises. Monitor treatment progress and modify interventions as clinically indicated. School Collaboration Consult with teachers, school counselors, administrators, and other educational staff regarding student behavioral health needs. Participate in Student Assistance Teams, multidisciplinary meetings, IEP/504 meetings, and other school-based support activities as appropriate. Provide behavioral health education and prevention programming within the school setting. Support development of positive behavioral and emotional wellness initiatives. Care Coordination Coordinate services with primary care providers and FQHC medical staff. Connect students and families to community resources, social services, and specialty behavioral health providers. Engage parents and caregivers in treatment planning and ongoing care. Facilitate referrals and follow-up services to ensure continuity of care. Documentation and Compliance Complete timely clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR). Maintain productivity standards and documentation requirements consistent with FQHC, HRSA, Medicaid, and state regulations. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and agency policies. Participate in quality improvement activities and clinical supervision as required. Minimum Qualifications Education Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program. Licensure Must possess one of the following West Virginia licenses: Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Experience Experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families preferred. Experience in school-based, community mental health, integrated care, or FQHC settings preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and evidence-based therapeutic practices. Required Skills and Competencies Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Knowledge of child and adolescent development. Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, families, school personnel, and healthcare providers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and documentation abilities. Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively for extended periods. Ability to respond appropriately during behavioral health emergencies. Preferred Qualifications Independent clinical licensure (LICSW). Experience working with underserved, rural, or school-aged populations. Job Type:
