Work setting & client population Liberty Healthcare operates a 10-bed acute psychiatric stabilization unit which serves adults who are justice-involved and experiencing acute mental illness. The unit is located onsite at the Maguire Correctional Facility - a San Mateo County jail located at 300 Bradford Street in Redwood City, CA 94063. The unit admits and treats patients who are under the conditions of an involuntary civil commitment and provides individualized assessment and treatment interventions aimed at achieving psychiatric stability as soon as clinically appropriate. Services are trauma-informed and rooted in the recovery model. Mental Health Worker responsibilities Establishing therapeutic relationships with patients Leading therapeutic recreation activities with individuals and groups Monitoring patient activity and behavior Promoting a positive therapeutic milieu Managing aggressive patient behaviors through appropriate intervention techniques Participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings Documenting therapeutic interventions, observations, and treatment in medical records What you can expect $30.00 per hour Training in effective therapeutic interventions On the job learning from experienced mental health professionals Daily opportunity to positively impact the mental health of individuals Work schedule You will work per diem (as you are needed and when you are available) Weekday and weekend shift options Three shift options: days from 6:45 am to 3:00 pm, evenings from 2:45 pm to 11:00 pm, and nights from 10:45 pm to 7:00 am Qualifications Experience supporting people with mental illness Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related human services field is preferred Experience working in a jail, prison, psychiatric hospital, mental health setting or human services program is preferred Liberty Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
