Join our Jail Diversion team and play a vital role at the intersection of behavioral health, the justice system, and community care. As a Jail Diversion Clinician , you'll work directly with courts, bail commissioners, and correctional partners to assess individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders and help guide them toward treatment‑focused alternatives to incarceration. This is a challenging and rewarding role for a clinician who thrives in fast‑paced environments and values collaboration, advocacy, and clinical excellence.
What You'll Do:
In this role, you will: Court Collaboration & Diversion Planning Partner with Court personnel, Bail Commissioners, and correctional staff to develop diversion and conditional release plans Monitor treatment engagement and compliance while supporting alternatives to incarceration whenever clinically appropriate Clinical Assessment & Care Coordination Conduct mental health and substance use assessments in court‑based settings Determine appropriate levels of care and coordinate referrals to behavioral health programs, hospitals, DMHAS Managed Care, and community resources Crisis & Safety Interventions Provide emergency psychiatric and risk assessments Coordinate hospital transfers when safety concerns are present Respond to Firearm Safety Act referrals and offer clinical support to crisis teams Treatment Monitoring & Reporting Track client progress and provide updates to court partners Collaborate with treatment teams on competency restoration and ongoing care needs Professional Collaboration & Growth Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, statewide Jail Diversion workgroups, and ongoing training
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications Master's degree in Social Work or a related behavioral health field Connecticut professional licensure required LCSW strongly preferred Will consider LMSW, LPC, or other eligible CT mental health licenses Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills Experience in psychiatric and/or substance use treatment settings strongly preferred Comfort working in court‑based or justice‑involved environments Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and electronic health records (EHR) Why Join Us? MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in social work or behavioral health related field. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Clinical experience in a psychiatric or substance use setting preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft 365. Must be able to navigate through electronic health records system (EHR)
PROFESSIONAL LICENSEURE/CERTIFICATIONS
Professional CT Licensure required. LCSW highly preferred, will consider LMSW or other mental health licenses (e.g., LPC)
