Job Description
Position Summary:
The Inpatient Psychiatric Unit Therapist works within a multidisciplinary team to provide services to patients in an acute adult inpatient behavioral health setting. This position joins with other members of the team to stabilize patients in a mental health crisis. The Therapist provides comprehensive clinical social work services, such as therapy (individual, group, and family), discharge planning, case management, care coordination, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention. This position seeks to address the psychosocial needs of the patients and their families in order for a safe return to the community upon discharge from the inpatient unit. This position is for licensure candidates who will be reporting to a supervising therapist for clinical case oversight in compliance with the Montana Board of Behavioral Health requirements.Minimum Qualifications:
Master Degree in Social Work or other comparable program. Licensed clinical candidate in the state of Montana (SWLC, PCLC, MFLC)American Heart Association BLS Preferred:
One (1) year of experience in Crisis Intervention, Psychiatric Emergencies, and/or Safety Planning.Essential Job Functions:
In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements. Support the mental and physical health care of patients on the adult Behavioral Health Unit. Coordinate care closely with the patient's interdisciplinary care team. Provide screening, assessments, and brief intervention for patients and families who require therapy and/or case management services in a timely manner. Provide individual, family, and group therapy for patients on the unit as well as crisis intervention when needed. Document and maintain appropriate clinical documentation. Contribute to the interdisciplinary treatment plan for each patient and integrate social work plan into overall care plan. Systematically track treatment response and monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications. Coordinate and implement discharge/transitional planning activities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Coordinate with referral agencies as indicated to ensure services are in place before discharge. Provide or facilitate referrals to evidence-based therapeutic treatments as well as to social services to address any treatment barriers (housing assistance, vocational rehabilitation, mental health specialty care, substance abuse treatment, etc.) as clinically indicated. Engage in supervision as required by state licensure. Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department and organization. The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
