This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about working directly with adults who have complex needs and who may require support with mental health stability, independent living skills, housing stability, basic needs, service navigation, emotional regulation, and community functioning. Many of the individuals we serve face barriers that make it difficult to complete daily tasks, attend appointments, manage paperwork, communicate with providers, access resources, or maintain stability without structured support. The Mental Health Practitioner will meet clients where they are in life and provide practical, skills-based support that helps them build independence and improve functioning. This role requires patience, strong communication, problem-solving skills, professionalism, and the ability to remain compassionate and effective when clients are overwhelmed, difficult to engage, or facing significant life challenges. Responsibilities Provide ARMHS services to adult clients in home and community-based settings. Meet with clients to provide comprehensive ARMHS support, including skills training, mental health rehabilitation interventions, resource navigation, service coordination support, problem-solving assistance, coaching, education, modeling, prompting, and support with barriers that impact daily functioning and independence. Teach and reinforce skills related to coping strategies, emotional regulation, symptom management, communication, organization, appointment follow-through, transportation use, housing stability, and independent living. Assist clients with understanding and completing paperwork related to county services, housing applications, benefits, healthcare, community resources, and other needed supports when mental health symptoms or disability-related barriers make these tasks difficult to complete independently. Help clients identify, access, and follow up with community resources, housing providers, county programs, healthcare providers, transportation services, and other support systems. Support clients in addressing barriers related to housing instability, limited support systems, substance use concerns, difficulty meeting basic needs, and challenges maintaining independence in the community. Communicate professionally with clients, case managers, county workers, housing providers, healthcare providers, landlords, community agencies, and other members of the client's support system as appropriate. Research resources, make calls, gather information, assist with follow-up, and help clients work through service access barriers when information is not easily available. Complete accurate and timely progress notes, service documentation, timesheets, and required agency paperwork in accordance with ARMHS standards, HIPAA, and agency policies. Participate in required supervision, training, team meetings, case consultation, and agency communication. Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, ethical conduct, and a respectful, culturally responsive approach when working with clients. Requirements Bachelor's degree required. Must have at least 3,000 hours of direct service experience working with individuals with mental health needs, disabilities, functional impairments, housing instability, substance use concerns, or barriers to independent living. Experience working as an ARMHS worker, Mental Health Practitioner, social worker, case manager, housing support worker, disability services worker, direct support professional, or similar direct-service role is strongly preferred. Must be comfortable providing services in clients' homes and community settings. Must have experience or strong ability to assist clients with paperwork, applications, service navigation, phone calls, appointment coordination, and follow-up with community agencies. Must be compassionate, patient, dependable, professional, and able to communicate clearly with clients, team members, and community providers. Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to research resources, gather information, and help clients work through barriers step by step. Must be able to work independently, manage a schedule, follow agency expectations, and complete timely and accurate documentation. Reliable transportation is strongly preferred due to the community-based nature of this position.
