- Addictions Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care ( UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout Jersey.
FY2016, UBHC
treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of Jersey is seeking a per diem Mental Health Specialist III for the Addiction Services Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The primary purpose of the Mental Health Specialist III position is to serve as a team member in providing and maintaining a safe therapeutic milieu. This position provides support and assistance to an interdisciplinary team. Actively participates in group and treatment-related activities and crisis interventions. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Provides direct care responsibilities for consumers/patients as assigned. Engages consumer/patient in appropriate treatment intervention based on service plan and supervisory directions. Interacts and communicates with consumer/patient in therapeutic manner. Assists with consumer admission, transfer, and discharge procedures. Consistently demonstrates session/group facilitation management skills. Maintains appropriate consumer/patient records as mandated by University Behavioral Health Care policy and applicable accrediting organization standards. Responsible for transporting individuals served to treatment related activities. FLSA Nonexempt Grade 99H Salary Details Minimum Salary 15.92 Mid Range Salary 50.00 Maximum Salary 150.00 Offer Information The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift up to seventy (70) pounds multiple times a day. Requires bending, lifting, and sitting. Some travel to client homes and community agencies. The employee is expected to drive throughout the week to locations in the community for treatment related activities.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Subject to unpredictable situations, patient crisis, medical, substance use related and psychiatric. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens that require use of personal protective equipment. Special Conditions Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol tests.
